The Town Planning and Environment Service has a very important role within a Municipality. It is responsable for planning, managing and maintaining a harmonious development of the municipality’s landscape that integrates well with the sustainable development concept while protecting natural environments, landscapes of interest, wildlife habitats etc.

The Municipal urban planning regulations govern the development, renovation and demolition of buildings and their location in accordance with the urban development diagram and plan. The Town Planning and Environment Service is responsible for the application of urban planning by-laws including zoning, construction, subdivision, minor derogation and SPAIP. It examines, recommends and approves all permit applications and ensures that the work is carried out.
